Butch T. Cougar Statue

A statue of Butch T. Cougar, WSU’s costumed mascot since 1978 — named for 1920s quarterback Herbert “Butch” Meeker, with the T for “the.” A gameday photo stop on the walk into Martin Stadium.

Cougar Band

The Washington State University Cougar Marching Band — the Pride of the Palouse — high-steps onto Gesa Field for pregame and halftime, leading the fight song and crimson-and-gray traditions.

Cougar Head Plaza

The stadium plaza and entrance marked by WSU’s snarling Cougar Head — the Randall Johnson logo first painted over the old Rogers Field gates in 1936. Fans gather here on Stadium Way before kickoff.

Cougar Pride Statue

Dedicated in 2008 at the northeast corner of Gesa Field, this 15-foot bronze by Mike and Chester Fields shows a cougar descending a rock — a tribute to WSU’s live mascot era (1927–1978) and a favorite gameday photo stop.

Before kickoff, the Cougars walk through a tunnel of crimson-and-gray fans, band, and cheerleaders on the way into Gesa Field — WSU’s player-arrival ritual.
